As an owner/operator I can put together a package for any job that is very cost effective. A note on 3 Perf 35mm: These days with so many origination formats it's producers choice. It’s not uncommon to shoot 16mm, 35mm, HD or other video formats dependent on delivery requirements. 35mm is still the top format offering superior resolution and colour depth compared to 16mm or HD. The image quality is absolutely outstanding producing brilliant, glorious pictures with exceptional detail. When transferred to High Definition Super 35mm will knock you out. 3 Perf simply refers to the camera movement that advances a new frame every 3 perforations instead of the normal 4. The dimensions of 3 Perf fit 16x9 wide screen TV perfectly, with no negative waste the format saves 25% on stock and processing. 3 Perf 35mm adds about 8% cost to the overall budget making it only slightly more expensive than 16mm. The format is great for shots with detail and scope like landscapes - reveals of vistas really snap. It is also the format of choice for graphics, keying and motion control multiple pass plate work. It's not for every job but it's a logical option for international TV distribution, theatre projection, and HD origination when the best picture quality is required.
